This workshop aims to improve the management skills of the project and program teams by focusing on using management tools and techniques for behavioral change and the strengthening of health systems. The learning model can be adapted for various programs across countries. At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

Prof. Paul S. Lalvani: Director -Empower Group, and Deputy Chair of People that Deliver, a global initiative hosted by UNICEF. He has more than 25 years of experience in training, coaching, capacity building, procurement and supply chain, access to medicines and technology transfer. Paul has held leadership positions at the Global Fund’s, Management Sciences for Health, and has advised the Gates Foundation, World Bank, WHO, and various Ministries of Health.
Ms. Sangeeta Tikyani: Director - Public Health and Humanitarian Sector, India Head, Empower School of Health. With more than 14 years of professional experience, she is a certified National NABH Assessor by Quality Council of India and has been awarded by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Gujarat for her valuable contribution at the various levels in delivering the quality of health services and better hospital management to the community. She has received various trainings by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USAID, Quality Council of India, University of Melbourne- Australia, MEASURE Evaluation, CPC, University of North Carolina USA, Max Hospital, and NHSRC - New Delhi among others. She is a National and Master Trainer in numerous subjects and has experience conducting more than 20 International Workshops in many countries. She is also a Green Belt in Six Sigma and is a certified 5S Practitioner.
Dr. (Major) Shishir Basarkar: Senior Consultant, Empower. He is a medical doctor with additional training in General Surgery, Operations and CRM, Hospital Management, Training and Development. He is an Accredited Management Teacher, Member of American College of Healthcare Executives, Fellow International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) and a Green belt in Six Sigma. He has authored books for Hospital Waste Management, Hospital Infection Risk Assessment and Patient Quality Care and also has number of journal publications under his name. During his career spanning around 30 years, he has worked in different professional capacities as Medical Officer, Head of Department, Medical Superintendent, Head of Medical Services and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and led his teams for various accreditations and certifications. His area of expertise includes topics like general management, hospital management, waste management, patient safety, infections control and quality assurance.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar: Senior Consultant- Public Health, Empower. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar is a senior practicing communication, research and media professional with over 25 years of experience in the field. He has been a researcher, head of division, project manager, mentor, adjunct faculty, trainer, film maker, journalist, writer, strategist, consultant and guest speaker. He has worked in the areas of health (HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, SRH, Disease Control Programmes), population, rural development, nutrition, WASH and corporate social responsibility (CSR). He has worked with national and international NGOs, consulting firms, UN bodies, bilateral agencies, donors and foundations, central and state government ministries and departments. He is a guest faculty at number of management, social welfare and health institutes across India.
Sr. Consultant: Senior Consultant, Empower. He is a Public Health Management professional with over 20 years of experience in healthcare management, economic evaluation, programme planning and design, training facilitation and moderation, capacity building and knowledge management services. He has a PhD from Newcastle University, UK and MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA. Additionally, he has a post graduate diploma in Business Management form Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management. He has expertise developing and delivering Management Development Programs customized to various client needs in the areas of Project Management, Project Planning and Health Economics. He has rich experience of heading and guiding national and international health system strengthening capacity building initiatives.
