The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (or simply the Global Fund) is an international financing and partnership organization that aims to "attract, leverage and invest additional resources to end the epidemics of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria to support attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations".

Empower's vision is to empower lives by promoting universal access to health and education. We work with health professionals from more than 50 countries to strengthen institutional capacity of global health programs. We also conduct assessments, research and provide advice to donors, governments and UN agencies on sourcing, logistics, pricing, quality, drug regulations, catalyzing local production and technology transfer. We offer intensive programmes (online, classroom and onsite) for participants/organizations seeking a more comprehensive understanding in a specific area of expertise.

NEED FOR THE COURSE

Managing public health supply chains is a delicate balancing act. Apart from ensuring structural and operational robustness of supply chains, judicious application of cost-benefits analysis in the investment-making process improves chances of a healthier supply chain. The money invested in these supply chain activities may have far-reaching impact of ensuring more accessible, higher quality and affordable products and services to the end users and, ultimately, the successful performance of supply chain. So, whether it is increasing warehouse capacity, redesigning the distribution network, or introducing new technology, it is important to know how to measure the consequences of an investment, in terms of effectiveness as well as in monetary terms.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Financial Evaluation of Investments in Public Health Supply Chains course is jointly developed by Global Fund and Empower School of Health. It is designed specially to cater to the needs of professionals working in the field of public health supply chains who need to make financial evaluation, by comparing both the costs and the consequences, of the various investment options and, at the same time, comparing then with alternative courses of action to guide their decisions about the cost-effectiveness of their investments and an efficient use of scarce resources.

This online course provides an overview of the financial evaluation techniques used to understand business needs, choose the most reliable and cost-effective mechanisms to achieve goals, and provide stewardship to make sure the public health supply chain objectives are met. This interactive course also includes assessments and quizzes at the module level and at the course level. Candidates registered in the courses are certified by the Global Fund and Empower School of Health on successful completion of the course.

Empower is actively engaged in providing back-end support to all the registered users. This not only includes meeting day to day queries of the users but also updating the courses as and when required.
