Under GAVI support, Empower School of Health, in collaboration with Zipline, Africa Resource Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management (ARC-ESM), and People that Deliver (PtD), has kicked off another STEP 2.0 Zipline project in Nigeria. This operations-specific implementation focuses on advancing effective, multimodal supply chain management by integrating Zipline’s drone-enabled last-mile delivery logistics into existing public health systems.
Bringing together 25 participants and coaches from three Nigerian states, the programme will explore adaptive leadership, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration, all tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities to improve last mile access to vaccines, medicines and health products.
The project aims to develop a strategic training plan for the pharmaceutical industry of Senegal during 2025-2030; to address sector needs by adapting the training offer. It will involve mapping vocational and higher education training, identifying challenges, opportunities, and stakeholders. Key objectives include improving governance, strengthening teaching staff capabilities, enhancing training quality, promoting professional integration, and developing a sustainable business model.
The project will focus on strengthening Nigeria's pharmaceutical regulatory system by enhancing the capacity of NAFDAC staff and improving operational efficiency. It will develop tailored training programs for regulatory professionals, covering key areas such as drug safety, compliance, and inspection. The project will also involve designing digital tools and resources to support NAFDAC’s ongoing regulatory activities. Through collaboration with local and international experts, it will build a sustainable framework for capacity building, ensuring that NAFDAC's workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to address evolving regulatory challenges and improve public health outcomes.
The project will focus on assessing and strengthening the warehousing and supply chain systems for healthcare consumables and pharmaceuticals in the Maldives. During the first phase, Empower will be conducting an institutional assessment in terms of current infrastructure, processes, and workflows, aligning them with national and WHO goals.
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new collaborative project between ESH and JSIPL, focused on strengthening routine immunization practices across India through digital capacity building. Under this initiative, Empower, under the guidance of JSIPL, will develop self-paced eLearning modules tailored for Medical Officers, with primary reference to the "Routine Immunization Manual for Medical Officer Handbook 2024".
This joint initiative between Empower and JSIPL aims to strengthen India’s routine immunization ecosystem by enhancing the capacities of medical officers in delivering life-saving vaccines, under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the STEP 2.0 Kenya workshop, which took place at the Great Rift Valley Lodge, Naivasha, Kenya, from June 2-6, 2025. The workshop brought together 15 participants at the national level from the Ministry of Health and KEMSA, as well as 9 Kenyan county representatives.
With the support of 3 international facilitators, and 8 coaches from Pfizer, IQVIA, Merck, Red Lightning and Sanofi, participants engaged in high-impact sessions focused on leadership, systems thinking, and optimising supply chain performance, culminating in a set of action plans to address challenges in resource management, storage and distribution, procurement, selection and qualification, amongst others. Participants have now returned to their workplaces and will implement their action plans, under the guidance of their coaches. Our heartfelt gratitude to Global Fund, IFPW Foundation and People that Deliver for their support through the workshop.
